Middle East: A sub-regional node

The idea of setting up a sub-regional node for the Middle East, Balkans and the Caucasian has been considered due to the significant increase in the number of ecovillages and related initiatives and projects in the region. These three regions, by and large, share a common history and culture, and due to geographical proximity, have very similar eco-systems and also environmental problems. Therefore, all ecovillages and related projects in the region have a lot to offer each other: their concrete experiences, the problems they encounter and the solutions they have developed, indigenous techniques that can be transferred to similar settings and much more. This mutuality also means solidarity among the organisations working towards sustainability in general and ecovillages in particular.
