General Assembly of members of GEN-Europe 2004

at ZEGG, Germany

12th – 17th of July 2004

72 participants from 23 countries gathered in July  04 in ZEGG community in Belzig/Brandenburg one hour southwest of Berlin. Many long term GEN members and associates and also many new people mainly from Eastern Europe (e.g. from Bulgaria, Croatia, Moldavia, Slovakia) met on the beautiful 15 hectare site of ZEGG.
The week long meeting consisted of a two day workshop on social skills in community (called "forum " in ZEGG), a visit to a nearby community and the three day GA. The forum workshop was a trust building and  moving experience for all participants. (more info about the forum click here).

Working groups formed and discussed future strategies, GEN's involvement in youth work and how to improve media and press  work. Evenings were filled with profound and colorful presentations of member ecovillages and new projects and lots of networking chats.
27 out of 34 full members were present at the GA and elected a new council (president: Geza Varga from Hungary).

Since the last GA in Wales in July 2003 GEN Europe has increased the number of members (ecovillages, ev-projects & national networks) by 52%! (from 52 to 79 members). We are encouraging ecovillage initiatives and projects but also interested individuals to join us as members and support the ecovillage movement!
